Things have been busy and exciting—venture events, speaking engagements, the occasional party, and a lot of coffee meetings. I met with oodles of cool startups and founders, and between it all made an exciting investment in BrightFunnel. I am positively thrilled about them joining the portfolio. It just makes sense. Strong founders lead the company, and are building a great product in a fast-growing market. They play in that sweet spot where machine-learning and big data automate and solve everyday business problems—a mega-trend that will change how all business processes look in the future. Expect more announcements from me of investments building this smarter-work future.

Oh and I should mention, there are role openings at several of the fund's companies—Mattermark, Mode, PipelineDB, and BrightFunnel. If you know great engineers, designers, or sales reps, let me know!

BrightFunnel Series Seed Investment

BrightFunnel is a next-generation marketing intelligence platform. Founders Nadim and Nisheeth form a strong team bringing complimentary leadership in marketing and machine-learning. We are participating in a $2.5mm seed equity round with Resolute Ventures, Bloomberg Beta, Crosslink Capital, Tekton Ventures, and several great angels. The team will use the raise to fuel product development, sales and marketing, and to strengthen technical partner integrations.

BrightFunnel is the industry’s only predictive marketing analytics cloud for B2B marketers, combining multi-touch attribution, intelligent forecasting, and industry benchmarking. For the first time, CMOs and their teams have a complete picture of marketing’s impact on revenue.

The financing builds on a strong year for BrightFunnel, which saw rapid growth in its stable of early adopter clients and key hires. The company is on pace to grow year-on-year revenues over 20x, and announced major new enterprise clients including HootSuite, Nimble Storage and ServiceMax. They are also developing product partnerships with Marketo, Salesforce, Pardot, Act-On Software, Oracle Eloqua, and Hubspot.
